2010 Oscars Nominations

The 2010 Academy Award nominations were announced in a ceremony hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and Patricia Clarkson this morning. If you were paying any attention to movies at all in 2009, most of the nominations won’t come as much of a surprise. With ten nominations in the best picture category, pretty much anything with the slightest whiff of Oscar ended up making the cut. At least five of these movies don’t have a realistic shot. Ten movies or not, the Academy still isn’t ultimately going to select a populist movie like Inglourious Basterds as winner of the best picture.

It’s just an honor to be nominated, huh? And I’m sure that Michelle Duggar remembers all her children’s names, too.

The ceremony will be held next month, and will be hosted by Stephen Colbert. Here are the nominees in the major categories:


Best Picture:
Up in the Air, directed by Jason Reitman.

Precious, directed by Lee Daniels

Up, directed by Bob Peterson and Pete Doctor

Nine, directed by Rob Marshall

The Road, directed by John Hilcoat
